I have planned to make something from the Star Wars universe since the first hype for the latest movie, but haven't really had the time.
Yesterday I made time, and created this x-wing in Poe's colour scheme. I aimed to make a model in "low-poly" art style with textures made to be very stylised. I think simple will fit well with simple. I developed a technique that is rather easy and can be achieved by these guidelines;
Mesh guide lines:
-No smoothing groups.
-Completely flat quads if you use any.
-Make sure every triangle contributes to the silhouette.
-Slightly rotate edge loops on round parts to make them rounder without adding triangles.
Texture guide lines:
-No shading or smaller details in any of the textures. use basic shapes for any details.
-The Colour map is plain colours with influence of AO.
-Roughness map is driven by a subtle white noise and AO.
-No normal map.
-No metal map.
